Exploring Cape Fear Botanical Garden: A Journey of Creativity and Heart
Our recent project with Cap Dev took us to the stunning Cape Fear Botanical Garden, where we had the pleasure of filming on November 18th and December 5th, 2024.
The Cape Fear Botanical Garden has been the centerpiece of a remarkable project to capture its beauty, community spirit, and transformative vision for the future. Over the course of two dynamic days, we’ve explored the garden’s grounds, documented its stories, and connected with the incredible people shaping its journey.
A Day of Adventure and Inspiration
The goal for this shoot was to capture the garden’s beauty and community spirit through B-roll footage. What we didn’t anticipate was just how much inspiration and fun the day would bring!
The day began bright and early with the support of Fayetteville Community College students, who joined us to help cover the expansive grounds. Thanks to the garden team, we had a golf cart to get around—until our curious enthusiasm led us off-road near the water resulting in a flat tire. But in a true display of the garden staff’s dedication, the tire was replaced in no time and we were back on track.
From there, the shoot unfolded like a perfect field trip. We explored the garden’s scenic pathways, soaking up creative energy and finding countless opportunities for stunning shots.
Capturing the Magic
The cameras rolled from 8am to 9pm, capturing every ounce of the garden’s magic. One standout moment was documenting the “before” photos of the site for the garden’s new pavilion, set to debut in 2027. This space will become a vibrant hub for social gatherings and events, creating a cornerstone for community connection.
As the sun set, the garden transformed into a dazzling holiday wonderland, thanks to an impressive display of Christmas lights designed by the talented Botanical Garden Team. Experiencing the holiday magic was truly the perfect way to end the day.
A Day of Adventure and Inspiration: Part 2
Our return to Cape Fear Botanical Garden on December 5th, 2024 was all about capturing heartfelt stories and visionary goals for their $3 million campaign. This project marked the second collaboration between Hendy Street Productions and Capitol Development Services, working together to create compelling donation content with the help of their creative consultant. These interviews bring a whole new dimension to our work, highlighting the dedication and love that make the garden a true community treasure.
The Stories Behind the Vision
The second shoot focused on interviews with key figures behind the garden’s transformation, each filmed in a location that added depth to their stories:
Chris (CEO) shared the campaign’s strategic vision in the foyer, where natural light illuminated his passion for the garden’s growth as a vital community resource.
Karl Legatski spoke about enhancing the guest experience in the same welcoming space, emphasizing the importance of preserving the garden’s legacy for future generations.
Lynne Nimocks highlighted the impact of educational programming outside amongst the greenery. The open space mirrored her message about inspiring all ages to connect with nature.
Out by the ponds, Jay and Charlene Wyatt delivered a heartfelt call to action: “We’re making a gift, and we invite you to do the same.” Their words underscored the campaign’s transformative potential.
Shannon (Director of Philanthropy) shared insights in the Orangery, a hall with beautiful tall ceilings and natural light, reflecting her role in connecting donors with the garden’s mission.
Barbara Education, interviewed in one of the educational classrooms at the Garden, spoke passionately about the educational programs she leads, which inspire lifelong learning and connection with nature.
Collaboration and Creativity
This project exemplifies the power of collaboration. Hendy Street Productions and Capitol Development Services combined creative storytelling with capital development expertise to produce content that inspires and mobilizes support for the garden’s vision.

The Cape Fear Botanical Garden is more than just a garden—it’s a beacon of community, education, and connection. We’re honored to be part of this journey and can’t wait to share more as the campaign unfolds.
